The Chhattisgarh BJP on Monday alleged lack of systems in quarantine centres in the state, saying they were more like Dharamshalas, and asked the government to make public how they were run.
BJP state spokesperson Sachchidanand Upasane said in a statement that while the Chhattisgarh government is making tall claims regarding these centres, the ground realities gave a different picture.
He alleged that these are no arrangements for security and other basic amenities at these centres. Any person can come and go at any time and that those arriving to meet patients also bring food.
The BJP leader asserted that no monitoring arrangement is in place. The situation is such that incidents of suicide, death due to snake bike and the recent case of a pregnant woman not getting timely medical help have been reported.
The inmates have not been provided facial masks and social distancing is blatantly violated at the centres.
“Those migrants arriving through trains to state are not properly undergoing medical tests and check-up. No seriousness has been shown by the state government to screen them as most positive cases are being reported from them. It is also creating a sense of fear in the local villages and urban areas where positive cases have been reported,” said the BJP spokesperson.
