Bilaspur needs new police stations: IGP

Staff Reporter

Inspector General of Police (IGP), Bilaspur, Pawan Deo has advocated for opening of new police stations in Bilaspur city.

“We have requested the State Government for opening of new police stations in Bilaspur so that effective control could be kept over the law and order situation here,” he said.

“Bilaspur has developed rapidly; however, the number of police stations have not increased accordingly. lack of police force and limited number of police stations is making it difficult to control crime in the city,” the IGP said while talking to reporters here.

According to the IGP,  there is need for making police force technology-savvy to stop cyber crimes. Delay in action against persons involved in such crimes boost their morale and therefore, additional police force and new police stations are also required, he said.

He informed that police is continuing its action against the illegal private money lenders and said that operation ‘Muskan’ is also receiving good success. So far 10 missing children have been found and sent back to their homes, which include some from abduction cases as well.

Comparing the growth of city with number of police stations, he informed that Raipur few years back had 12 police stations but today the number has doubled and currently there are 24 police stations in the city.

Bilaspur city, 20 years back had 6 police stations which have increased to 7. We are trying to open new police station for areas like Tifra, Mopka, Jarhabhata, Mangla and several other places, he said.
