Giving a sarcastic spin to Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel’s tweet wherein he asked voters not to vote for the Congress if the promises made by it were not fulfilled, the Chhattisgarh BJP on Saturday said the appeal smacks of defeat.
What had happened to those who were eyeing victory in all the 11 Lok Sabha seats in the state that they were now urging voters not to vote for the Congress, BJP state president Vikram Usendi said.
The CM in a tweet in Hindi had said: “Farmers need not have to vote for us if they have not received minimum support price of Rs 2500 for their paddy. Don’t vote for us if your electric bill has not been halved. Don’t vote for us if you are not getting 35kg of rice against each ration card. We seek vote on the basis of our works and not in the name of religion and caste like Modiji (Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”
Usendi said CM in his tweet delved only on support price of paddy, reducing of power tariff by half and providing 35 kg of rice per ration card. The BJP leader said these are three half-done promises.
The BJP state president pointed out that promises of providing unemployment allowances, liquor prohibition and payment of old-age pensions were still pending.
He said staring at an election defeat, Baghel was now trying to accuse the Prime Minister of seeking vote on religion-caste lines.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi will never indulge in politics based on religion-caste. Dividing people on the basis of religion-caste has been a character of the Congress. The party has soft corner for the terrorist, whom they termed revolutionary, and terror-sponsored Pakistan,” the BJP leader claimed.
Instead of giving a positive and creative direction to the state, the Congress leadership was indulging in negative politics.
“Now the situation has come to such a pass that within three months the state government took loans of Rs 10,000 crore. Wages of government employees and officers are pending, law-and-order has crumbled,” he said.
