Chairperson of Gariaband Nagar Panchayat Mamta Rathore performed the ‘Bhumi Pujan’ for construction of Water Filtration Plant behind stadium at Gariaband on Thursday.
The Water Filtration Plant to be constructed by Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) for more than Rs2.17 crore will help in providing pure and adequate water to the residents, officials said.
The Water Filtration Plant is a result of persistent efforts of Rathore who along with the Collector had repeatedly raised the demand with the State Government. Rathore said that filtered water from the plant will move a distance of about 4 kms to reach water tanks and thereby in the household supply lines of the city.
The PHED Executive Engineer said that once the project becomes operational, the people will get regular and pure water.The residents are also satisfied by the move and they call it the greatest achievement for the city in the past five years.
