State Agriculture Minister Brijmohan Agrawal inaugurated the Bhoramdev Festival 2016 at Kawardha on Tuesday.
Mumbai’s popular singer Sadhana Sargam, Odishi dancer Purnashree Raut and local artists performed on the occasion.
Agrawal appreciated the pious Bhoramdev Temple and said it is necessary to promote the State for its tourism, religion and archeology.
He further said that the Bhoramdev Temple set up in the 11th century has remained a centre for meditation. The locals of the area have been continuously making efforts of promoting the temple by hosting the Festival.
Meanwhile, MP Abhishek Singh denoted the festival a pride for Kawardha.
He said the festival is being organized for the past 22 years. Prior to that, a Fair was conducted in the presence of the local tribal community.
Singh said the various government departments are jointly organising the festival to develop the Bhoramdev temple premises into a prominent tourist destinations.
On the other hand, Kabirdham district administration officials informed that the district has got the leadership opportunity in Swacch Bharat Mission on the basis of self-evaluation of Urban Administration and Development Department.
