Bhilai township to get one-time water supply

Staff Reporter

To ensure long-term water availability in Bhilai Steel Plant township, the plant management has decided on Tuesday that only one-time water supply (morning) will be made available to the township from Friday, May 12, 2017 for two months till Monsoon rains set in, an official statement informed.

The decision will be reviewed after taking stock of the sufficient rainfall situation.

The statement added that it has also been observed that many residents of the township are drawing water directly with the help of pumps which is resulting in insufficient water supply for other residents.

Hence the management has decided that there would be no electricity supply in the morning during the period when water is supplied. The Public Health Engineering Department of Bhilai Steel Plant has appealed to township residents to bear with the situation.

The township was getting a two-time supply of water to the residential quarters since February 2017.

In summer, the water consumption in the township is likely to increase by 30 to 40 percent. With rising temperature, the availability of water in the township quarters has become a serious issue of concern.
