Staff Reporter

Beautification work of the pilgrimage circuit to Sheorinarayan is now almost complete and Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel will open it to the public on April 10.

Sheorinarayan, in Janjgir-Champa district, is said to have been connected to Lord Ram and is one of the eight places developed by the Chhattisgarh government to provide new identity to the region’s tourism.

The place is where devotee Shabri fed the Lord with gooseberry after tasting her herself to ensure he got the sweet ones.

The state government has ensured better connectivity and electrification along with arranging other amenities.

A total of 51 places have been identified as spots which Lord Rama graced during his exile. All of them would be developed in several phases.

Eight of the places which would be developed in the first phase besides Sheorinarayan (Janjgir-Champa) are Chandrakhuri (Raipur), Sitamadhi-Harchowka (Koria), Ramgarh (Surguja), Turturia (Balodabazar-Bhatapara), Rajim (Gariaband), Sihava (Dhamtari) and Jagdalpur (Bastar).
