After achiving success in fight against leftist militancy by District Rescue Group (DRG) in three districts of violence-hit Bastar, Chhattisgarh Government has decided to set up separate DRGs for four more districts to fight red terror.
Bastar division’s three districts Kondagaon, Dantewada and Narainpur already have DRGs and now four additional DRG teams would be formed in Sukma, Bijapur, Bastar and Kanker districts.
Sources informed that a few elite personnel of Chhattisgarh Armed Force (CAF) and District Force undergoing training at Counter Terrorism and Jungle Warefare College (CTJWC) in Kanker would be recruited in DRGs.
Also, the surrendered Naxals, considering their familiarity with the geography and Naxal activities, would also be included in the teams after proper training.
