The ‘Green home, Clean home’ competitions organised by the Bharat Aluminium Company ltd. (Balco) began on Wednesday with six teams of Balco ladies Club and two teams of the Balco Nagar families  visiting the township’s colony and assessing  the cleanliness maintained by the residents.

They evaluated the environment under 17 categories in the residential area with the consent of the township’s citizens. The team advised each household to keep the township free of plastic and use tricycle for the disposal of house garbage.

Ahead of the launch of the competition, a meeting was held at Balco guest house. Speaking at the meeting,  Balco chamber of commerce chairman Sumer Dalmiya said plastic is the most dangerous garbage in the environment due to its indestructible properties.

The citizens while going for shopping should avoid asking for plastic carry- bag. Praising the organisers for their cleanliness campaign, Dalmiya said the people should go with their own carry-bags for shopping and this will discourage the use of the plastic.

Encouraging the jury team for their initiatives, Balco public relations head BK Srivastawa and head, administration, SN Singh, said the competitions organised by Balco management should reach to every resident  of the township.

They said Balco is committed to ensure the overall cleanliness of the township and to make it beautiful and green.  Township assistant general manager  Niraj Trivedi and assistant general manager Ashish Ranjan provided the jury the information related to the evaluation procedure.

Balco ladies Club chairman Meena Mantri was among several other association representatives who were present at the meeting.
