Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said on Saturday that he would ensure all support and resources back up for the poverty-hit tribal dominated Bastar region’s Abujmarh where there is no dearth of talent and capabilities among children.

He heaped praise on Ramkrishna Ashram based at Narayanpur and shaping up talents of local children. He reiterated that state government was committed to development of Abujmarh.

He was addressing the ‘National Youth Day’ event organised to mark the 125th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda at Ramkrishna Mission Ashram, Narayanpur.

“All pray to God but no one serves the children of God. Swami Ramkrishna Paramhans and Swami Vivekananda served humanity.

Today, the Ashram is doing a great service of humanity with dedication,” opined Baghel.

Recalling the past, Baghel said, “Former Prime Minister late Indira Gandhi called Swami Atamanand asking him to do something for Abujmarh to bring changes in local people’s life. So, Ashram started in a small hut.

It was period when people used to exchange forest produce ‘Chironji’ with salt. Ashram then ensured people got the right price.”

He further remarked, “Narayanpur Ashram class 5th seven students from Bastar division topped in exam. When people asked why only seven, why not eight, then I had to say, in ashram only seven children were studying.

The ashram is working on providing best education to children.”

Industries minister Kawasi Lakhma, MLA Mohan Markam and Chandan Kashyap also addressed the gathering on the occasion.
