Australia is interested in boosting economic ties with Chhattisgarh, particularly in relation to mining, a delegation of the Australian High Commission said on Friday.

The team, on a-two-day visit to the state, met senior officials of the state government.

The delegation on Thursday discussed with Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel the possibilities of cooperation between Australia and Chhattisgarh in the socio-cultural sector and capital investment, especially in mining and environmental protection.

Delegation leader and Australian High Commissioner, Barry O'Farrell, said Australia had expertise in the field of mining. He discussed mining survey, exploration and mining technology.

The delegation met Director General of Police D.M. Awasthi and sought to know the state of law order vis-a-vis Australian tourists.
