Self-styled Godman Asaram Bapu’s supporters in Raipur carried out a repeat of violent acts against scribes and photographers, typical of what his followers did in Jodhpur, Indore and Bhopal, when they beat up mediapersons here at VIP Square on Sunday afternoon.
Hundreds of the self-styled Godman’s followers, while protesting his arrest, targeted mediapersons while also hitting any person who came their way as they gathered raising slogans and staged a ‘chakka jam’ to protest his arrest on the busy VIP Square.
The constables on duty while trying to control the irate supporters of the self-styled Godman received minor injuries as they struggled to stop the protesters from disrupting traffic.
The police had to use mild cane charge to control the protesters. A total of four cases had been registered against the Godman's supporters under various sections, police sources said.
