More than 60,000 patients received treatment in the 'Out Patients Department' (OPD) of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) here during the last ten months, the hospital management informed on Monday.
The OPD at the hospital started operation on June 5 last year .At present , a total of 10 departments have commenced work at the hospital. While 2,279 patients were examined at the OPD in the first month, later the number of patients soared six times to about 12,000 per month.
Under the leadership of AIIMS first Director in Raipur who is a well known ENT specialist Dr Nitin M. Nagarkar, it enrolled the first batch of MBBS students on September 24 , 2012. Similarly the enrollment for first batch of students for BSc Nursing courses commenced on August 1, 2013. At present, the AIIMS has ten departments -- ENT, General Medicine, Paediatric, Dermatology, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Gynecology, Dental, Psychiatric and General Surgery.
The AIIMS management said the hospital will offer world-class facilities and treatment to the people soon with its modern operation theater, CT Scan, emergency services, and other super specialty facilities at the lowest cost.
