All government hospitals in Chhattisgarh are being upgraded and equipped with ultramodern facilities to prepare for the predicted third wave of Covid-19.

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has said that no stone will be left unturned in strengthening the health infrastructure and in making medical facilities easily accessible to common people even in the remotest of the areas in state.

Learning from the second wave of Covid, the Chhattisgarh government has started upgrading all district and block-level hospitals, making them fully-equipped with all kinds of facilities, an official communication said on Thursday.

Baghel has told all the District Collectors to submit within 15 days an action plan for upgrading the hospitals and health centres. He said this work should be given top priority so that the state fights with full force if a third wave strikes.

The Chief Minister said that in the last six months, facilities such as ICU, oxygen related equipment, beds and ventilators in these hospitals have been enhanced and upgraded to provide better Covid treatment.

The number of doctors in community health centres has also been significantly increased in view of the need to further strengthen health management.

All the government hospitals should be equipped with operation theatre, labour room, laboratory, ICU, ventilators, blood bank and free medicines.

Moreover, post graduate doctors of paediatrics, gynecology, anesthesia, pathology, medicine and surgery should be appointed in these hospitals, the communication said.
