The Chhattisgarh Government on Friday announced that the slaughterhouses and the meat shops would be closed only for two days during the Jain festival of fasting Paryushan instead of eight days in the State.
The Government issued the notification while amending its earlier order, an official Press release stated.
The concerned District Collectors would decide the days of the closure , it stated.
Chhattisgarh Government’s announcement came on a day when a similar ban in Mumbai was challenged by meat sellers and even opposed by many political parties. On Friday, Mumbai's civic body also cut short the ban from four to two days.
