For development of power sector in Chhattisgarh and strengthening infrastructure related to it, a five-year Capital Investment Plan (CIP) has been chalked out, said Deputy General Manager (Public Relations) of Chhattisgarh State Power Holding Company limited (CSPHCl) Vijay Mishra.
Under this plan, funds to tune of around `7466 crore have been included and time duration for the visionary scheme has been fixed from 2016-17 to 2020-21, he said.
The works for various schemes including general schemes such as Chief Minister Urban Electrification Scheme, Deendayal Upadhyay Gram Jyoti Yojana, Mukhyamantri Manjra Tola Vidhyutikaran Yojana, EITC, IT projects, civil works and others will be carried out.
Along with extension of 4500 km-long 33 kv line, as many as 290 substations of 33/11 kv will be developed in the State under the programme, said Mishra, adding that “the estimated expenditure for the work would be around `1006 crore”.
“Moreover, special measures will be taken to check loss of power during transmission under CIP. Similarly, 9000 km-long exposed wire will be replaced with insulated wire to prevent power theft,” said Mishra.
According to him, as a result of the State Government’s dedicated efforts, over 94 percent villages across Chhattisgarh have been electrified. With the objective to ensure electric connections to people in rural as well as urban areas, 33/11 kv substations are being installed in required areas on a war footing due to which number of substations have now reached to 948 from 248 substations.
The State has recorded significant rise in number of power connection holders. During the time of Chhattisgarh’s formation, the State had around 18 lakh power connection holders which are now around 42 lakh, he said.
“With the help of electricity, Chhattisgarh is speedily moving ahead on the path of development and managed to illuminate over 94 percent villages by ensuring power connection,” said the officer.
