Mining department officials in a surprise raid inspected large number of vehicles on the Jagdalpur-Chitrakot road and seized three on the charge of illegal mineral transportation, officials said on Friday.
The vehicles include two tippers and a tractor. While two vehicles were carrying sands illegally without any permission, another one was carrying lime stones illegally.
Mining officer RC Netam said the vehicles have been seized and kept at the local police station at Badangi for further action.
The vehicles which were seized belonged to Santosh Tiwari, Koshor Morla, and Baldev Tetarkhuti. They belonged to different villages of Jagdalpur.
He said the officials have however found several vehicles which were genuinely carrying the minerals and the drivers and operators produced valid documents.
