A 25 kg powerful improvised explosive device (IED), suspected to have been planted by Naxalites to target security forces, was seized on Saturday in Bijapur district in Chhattisgarh.
A team of District Reserve Guard, Chhattisgarh Armed Force and local police made the discovery in the Nelasnar-Mirtur-Gangaloor area, Bijapur Superintendent of Police Anjaneya Vaishnav said.
It was found near a pond during de-mining and patrolling operations between Bechapal and Etepal roads, he said, adding the IED had a command system and its switch was 100 meters away.
