Adding one more feather to its cap, the Chhattisgarh State Power Transmission Company ltd (CSPTCl) energized one more 220-KV electricity sub-station in Churi village of Korba district. The sub-station constructed at a cost of Rs 45 crore has a capacity of 160 MVA.
Managing Director of CSPTC Vijay Singh said that the transmission system of the State has registered huge progress ever since the formation of the State. The Churi sub station is fully automatic and is operated by the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system which is an advance atomization technique. This technique is based on minimum labour principle.
With energization of Churi sub-station, Korba and Kotmikala stations will be directly linked with it. At present four lines of 220 KV and four lines of 132KV are linked with this substation. Some more important 220KV lines will soon be linked with the sub station, added Singh.
The basic objective behind constructing this sub station is transmission of power generated by Korba power plant through 220KV and 132KV transmission lines across the State. With energization of this sub station, the electricity supply in Gevra Mines, Bango (Darri), Vishrampur, Manendragarh and adjoining areas will be improved.
Singh said that acquisition of land for establishing big sub stations has always proved to be a daunting task. The company had initially faced problems in acquiring land in Churi village. It was due to the guidance of Chief Minister Raman Singh and sincere efforts of Principal Secretary, Energy Department, Aman Kumar Singh, the company managed to overcome the hurdles. The number of 220 KV substations has increased to 17 which were just five at the time of formation of the State, added Singh.
