In a major success, five hardcore Naxals including two female ultras carrying cash reward of `8 lakhs each on their head surrendered before police in the insurgency-riddled Kondagaon district. They were members of Maoist military company number 6, Superintendent of Police (SP) Kondagaon Abhishek Meena informed here on Saturday.

The surrendered ultras were identified as Urmila Vatti resident of Kokpad police station Mardapal, Fulo Budhni of Narayanpur, Rajbatti alias Emeshwari Dugga, Mainu alias Malol alias Bandu hailing from Kanker, and Guddu Salam from Kondagon.

“Urmila had joined Naxal cadre at the age of 14 under threat from left wing extremists. She was involved in various attacks on police party,” Meena claimed. Dissatisfied with dual standard adopted by Naxals and tough life in Jungle, Urmila separated herself from Naxal path. State Government had declared cash reward of `8 lakh on her head, he added.

Similarly Fulo alias Budhni a member of Maoist military company number 6 and also as member of Naxal local Operating Squad (lOS) active in Kuanar of Bastar region had joined Naxal cadre in 2009. Initially she was a member of Chetna Natya Mandali (CNM) one of the outfits of banned Naxal organisation Communist Party of India (Maoist).

“She used to carry a .303 rifle and for about four years Fulo worked in platoon number 1 of Company 6. In 2013 due to some medical complications she was removed from military company since then she was working as lOS member active in Benur region,” the SP said. In 2014 she was a part of Naxal ambush attack carried out in the jungles of Mardapal wherein a police jawan was killed. Reward of `8 lakh was declared on her head, SP said.

Further reward of `5 lakh was declared on arrest of Rajbatti Dugga a member of lOS active in Kiskod area of the district. She carried a .303 rifle and was associated with Naxals since 1998-99. Rajbatti in 2010 had attacked police party wherein two Naxals were killed. She along with others Naxals had killed a youth in Bandapal village and a man in Kohka village branding them as police informers, SP Meena said.

Mainu alias Malol who used to carry a 12 bore gun was a lOS member of Kiskod Dalam. He was also involved in similar incidents of murder and damaging public property. Reward of `1 lakh was declared on his arrest. Mahesh alias Guddu Salam was Militia member of Barda village. The surrendered Naxals will be rehabilitated as per policies of state government, the SP remarked.
