The Chhattisgarh Government has included two new agendas in the list for discussion in the Gram Sabhas to be started in the State from August 20.

The district collectors have been directed to ensure that information on these agendas should be given to people in the Gram Sabhas, officials said.

The two new agendas included in the list are — registration in the register of village panchayats is mandatory for the labourers going out of village for job and appeal for compulsory registration of each case of birth-death.

As per the decision taken at Government level, it is mandatory for labourers going outside village for work to enter all information in the Village Panchayat register, so that they could be contacted in exigencies.

Officers of Directorate of Panchayat said here on Monday that preparations were at war-foot for the Gram Sabhas to be organised in about 20,000 villages from August 20.

Accounts of works done by local village panchayats will be presented at the Gram Sabhas. Beneficiaries of the Government schemes will be selected after discussion with the public. Directives  have been issued to decide village-wise separate dates and to prepare programme for holding Gram Sabhas so that the Sarpanch and the Secretary of Gram Panchayats concerned would be present at the Gram Sabha of each village. A 20-point agenda list has already been issued on 5th August.

The Directorate of Panchayat, in a new circular issued on August 12, has directed to include the two new agendas in the list.
