In a psychological defeat for Naxals two hard-core Maoists, including a woman, surrendered before police here on Thursday and exposed the sham promises made by the Maoists. The ultras handed over their SlR rifle and 12 bore gun to Inspector General of Police (IGP) Durg Ashok Juneja.

He worked with Aundhi dalam from 2 months and was later shifted to Kodekhursh local Operating Squad (lOS) active in Rajnandgaon and Kanker district where he worked for about one and half year. Kamlesh was then provided a 303 rifle and appointed as guard of DVS Vijay. later he was transferred to Korchi area of Gadhchiroli district Maharashtra and was appointed as guard of Maharashtra State Committee Milind alias Deepak Teltumde. After spending one and half year as guard of Milind he was shifted to border platoon B (now military platoon number 56). Kamlesh was then promoted as section commander of military platoon number 55 active in northern part of Rajnadgaon district. While working with Maoist he closely observed the difference between the ideology and working of Naxals. Under pressure from security personnel and harsh forest life he decided to withdraw himself from Naxals and finally surrendered before police. The gun was looted from head constable Madhu Shankar Burade who martyred in gun battle at Changurda valley in 2003.

The woman ultra Hemlata informed that she had joined Maoists cadre when she was 14 years old. She became member of Korchi dalam and in 2012 was transferred to platoon number 55. While living with Naxals she realised her mistake. She said that women cadre were not treated well and are even not allowed to meet their family members.
