Eleven insurgents gave up arms in insurgency-hit Kondagaon district, police said here on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, in a separate action, a hardcore Maoist carrying reward of ` 8 lakh on his head was arrested from a forested patch under Mardapal police station limits.
“The surrendering ultras were dissatisfied with the discrimination meted out at the hands of senior Naxal leaders of Andhra Pradesh origin,” Superintendent of Police (SP) Kondagaon JS Watti said.
According to him, continuous operations carried out by police forces and a lucrative surrender policy adopted by Chhattisgarh government also convinced them to withdraw from the path of violence.
They were all active in Mardapal and Bayanar region, Watti said adding, one of the surrendering ultra was a Range Committee Member, while remaining were Janmilita members. Going by the account provided by surrendering ultras, the SP said more Naxals could shun Maoist ideology in near future.

During the intelligence based action, the joint contingent while carrying out search operations in the jungle of Mandoda falling under the limits of Mardapal police station arrested Gandru alias Jagdish Korram, he said.
The 20-year-old Gandru, a resident of Narayanpur district was involved in the attack on a police party in the jungles of Handapal last year, the SP said while adding that police was searching him in connection with criminal incidents like attempt to murder, brawl, handling arms and similar other crimes.
