A public awareness campaign ‘Roko Au Toko’ (stop and educate) to promote Covid appropriate behaviour and vaccination was launched on Saturday in Chhattisgarh's Durg and Rajnandgaon districts.
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel launched the campaign in the first week of April at Raipur.
More than 600 youth volunteers in Durg and Rajnandgaon will promote the campaign. It will be rolled out in Bilaspur, Raigarh, Baloda-Bazar and Korba cities also where 300-600 volunteers will be involved, stated an official communication.
At Durg, District Collector Dr Sarveshwar Bhure said the campaign will reach out to people in urban slums and residential places. “Creating awareness and mobilizing people are key to containing the spread of Covid and address vaccine hesitancy,” he said. The campaign was also flagged off in Rajnandgaon city by Topeshwar Verma, District Collector. Job Zachariah, Chief of UNICEF Chhattisgarh, said: “Young people are catalysts and their role is critical in addressing misinformation and promoting Covid appropriate behaviour and vaccination." During the three-month-long campaign, the volunteers will support the government’s efforts to contain the spread of the virus and promote Covid vaccination drive.
