Staff Reporter

If substantial evidence is received, then the probe will be conducted into the death of Lion cubs in the Jungle Safari at Atal Nagar, said Forest Minister Mohammed Akbar on Tuesday.

In month of November last year, four lion cubs within few days of their birth had died at Jungle Safari. The lioness named Vasundhara had given birth to three cubs five months ago. After two of them died, the third one was separated from the Lioness. This led to her mating and then giving birth to second set of four newborns in month of November (2018). The weaker four new born cubs had died within a short period.

On the death of White Tiger in Bilaspur based Kanan Pendari, the Minister said, “The report was sought from all the three doctors who performed the post-mortem. Individual interaction was also done with doctors and they stated that due to hair, they could not find the point of snake bite on Tiger.”

But based on the colour of heart which turned black and the inside of mouth turning blue it was confirmed as snake bite. The body parts of Tiger have been sent to  Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI), Bareilly for further probe. Based on final report action will be taken, he said.
