The procurement of paddy in the state on minimum support price (MSP) will commence from December 1, Food and Civil Supplies, Consumer Protection Minister Amarjeet Bhagat and Forest Minister Mohammed Akbar announced on Monday.
They were interacting with the media after a meeting of the Cabinet Sub-Committee constituted for procuring paddy for the Kharif marketing year 2020-21 at the New Circuit House, Civil Lines, Raipur.
The Ministers said the proposal will be prepared and tabled before the Cabinet to finalize the procurement process in the state. They did not divulge details, saying it was an internal meeting.
An official statement confirmed that discussion revolved around the paddy procurement and related arrangements. The committee finalized to table the proposal during the Cabinet meeting.
Apart from the Food and Forest Ministers, Cooperative Minister Dr Premsai Singh Tekam, Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Umesh Patel, MLA Satyanarayan Sharma, Apex Bank Chairman Bejnath Chandrakar and Food department Secretary Dr Kamalpreet Singh were present.
