Chhattisgarh Power Companies’ chairman Shailendra Kumar Shukla said due to fire at the transformer installed at 220KV power sub-station Bhilai, power supply was disrupted to all feeders of Bastar-Durg-Rajnandgaon and two feeders of Raipur.

Soon after receiving the information about the incident, the situation was monitored and necessary repairing was done to restore power supply, he said.

Shukla said the team work gave a better result within an hour as 95% of the power supply was restored.

A fault in Bhilai sub-station in turn caused disruption at the Gudhiyari and Sarona 132KV sub-stations due to which the power supply in Gudhiyari, Kushalpur, Amapara, Lakhenagar, Changorabhata, Raipura, Hirapur, Kota, Samta Colony, DD Nagar, among other areas were affected.

He said  at 11.30 PM on Friday, the power supply was restored in Bastar, Kanker, Sukma, Durg, Rajnandgaon, Balod, Bemetara and Kawardha.

Distribution Company Director H R Narware said alternative arrangement was made for supply restoration after the fault was found at Bhilai. Mainly, in the Bastar division the power supply was restored through alternative supply line.

Shukla said Power Company is a service provider and during such a sudden turn of events, the officers to employees work 24 hours to serve the people. Cooperation of consumers is also laudable at this critical juncture, he added.

Strengthening of the transmission system, mainly in tribal areas, and double line arrangement have helped restore power supply at the earliest.

Further, such system is being implemented in other parts of state, he said.

Pre-monsoon maintenance work is also being undertaken, he added and prior intimation in this regard is being provided through newspapers and short message services (SMS) to consumers.
