The lone 24x7 Oxy Reading Zone cum Library ‘Nalanda Parisar’ will be named after the late freedom fighter and Padma Shri Dr Mahadev Prasad Pandey. His statue will be installed in the capital Raipur.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said Dr Pandey was a true son of the soil. The ‘Nalanda Parisar’ will be named in his memory. The statue has been sanctioned to be installed at the Government Ayurvedic College Premises, Raipur.
Baghel said this had been done in view of Dr Pandey’s role in the freedom struggle in the state.
Dr Pandey first went to jail at the age of just 13 years. He was lodged in Raipur Central Jail. Later, he became an ayurvedic doctor and served as the Principal of Ayurvedic College, Raipur.
He received Padma Shri award for his contribution to literature and education in 2007. He passed away after prolonged illness on February 9, 2020.
‘Nalanda Parisar’ is a unique 24x7 eco-friendly project, located on a 6-acre green property, for students to study, read, remain networked and work on projects, either individually or in groups.
It is the lone library in the state working in ‘self-financing’ model. It is located on GE Road, in the middle of the education hub of the capital city.
It was built utilizing funds of District Mineral Fund, the Chhattisgarh Environment Conservation Board and Smart City Limited, Raipur.
