‘Indradhanush’ scheme launched to motivate police personnel

Staff Reporter

To motivate police officers and lower cadre, the Chhattisgarh police launched the ‘Indradhanush’ scheme for best performers as per directives of Director General of Police D M Awasthi.

The DGP stated that during his visit to different districts of the state and interacting with police personnel, it has been found that there are many officers and lower staff doing excellent work on the field.

Even after doing good works they do not get due recognition which dampens their morale, the DGP observed.

“On several occasions they also get dejected,” the DGP said, explaining what prompted him to launch the scheme.

“To keep up the motivational level of such good employees, the scheme has been started,” he   elaborated. As part of the scheme, any policeman from constables to inspector/company commander to secretariat level force unit officers/employees will get chance to brief about their achievement directly to the DGP.

All personnel of the state police units and non-gazette police officers if perform any good work in a week and feel that it should be brought to the notice of the DGP, then through a letter recommended by the unit chief/superintendent of police/commandant, they can approach the DGP on every Monday and brief him about their achievement. The DGP will then give a certificate of merit to selected personnel. If any policeman receives the 10 or more certificates within a year, his/her name will be put up on the Chhattisgarh Police website under ‘Best Policeman of Chhattisgarh’ category.

The main aim of the scheme is to create a healthy competitive environment in the force and recognise their achievement. A letter specifying about the scheme has been sent to all units with the directive that it should be read out in all the seven days during the roll call to make police personnel aware of it.
