Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Tuesday paid tribute to Chandulal Chandrakar on his death anniversary, saying he had played an important role in the formation of Chhattisgarh state.
Garlanding his portrait at Bhilai-3 Bazar Chowk, Baghel said Chandrakar led several movements, held meetings and extensively created public awareness for Chhattisgarh's birth.
He said that Chandrakar had a special vision for development of Chhattisgarh. He always used to talk about the possibilities of horticulture in the state.
Today, Durg district tops in the production of vegetables and fruits in Chhattisgarh as a result of Chandrakarji's vision. He also played an important role in the industrial development of Bhilai.
He would always carry the typical khurmi even during foreign trips. He never forgot to take 'datun' wherever he went.
Baghel said Chhattisgarh is marching ahead on the path of development by following the vision of Chandrakar.
