Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) Chief Executive Officer Dr Saurabh Garg termed as "commendable" the work done in Chhattisgarh for Aadhaar service for the people. He was on a day's visit to Raipur on Saturday.

Accompanied by P. Sangeetha (IAS), Deputy Director General (UIDAI), and Chhattisgarh State Aadhaar Director Srinivas Naik G, he visited the Municipal Corporation Aadhaar Centre and the Centre at Zone 7 of Raipur, an official communication said.

Briefing the visiting team, Raipur Municipal Commissioner Mayank Chaturvedi said that most civic services were being provided conveniently to citizens in coordination with the Chhattisgarh Infotech Promotion Society (CHiPS).

Throwing light on the role of CHiPS, its Joint Chief Executive Officer Nilesh Soni said efforts were to increase transparency and reliability in the delivery of civil services in which Aadhaar services played an important role.

The work of updating the new Aadhaar card, address, photograph and biometric information is being done in Aadhaar centres. Aadhaar authentication is required in many schemes with Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
