Diwali is next week, and so is the season to burst crackers. Despite several warnings and precautions, children tend to get careless and may end up with mild burns. ROSHANI DEVI shares some quick home remedies

We all love to burst crackers around Diwali and even though we know that precautions are a must, one gets caught up in the festivities and distractions can lead to carelessness especially if there are small children around. Here are a few simple things that one can do to treat mild burns.

Treating a mild burn with lavender oil is a good way to prevent scarring. Take two-three drops of undiluted lavender oil on a cotton pad and spread it evenly on the burned area. Do this three times a day until you see positive results.

Using mustard seeds helps too. Take a tablespoon of yellow mustard and add 1/2 tablespoon of water. Make a fine paste. Apply this on the affected area. Do this at least thrice a day.

We all know the wonders of aloe vera. Take a teaspoon of aloe vera gel. If you have a plant at home the better it is. Peel the fleshy leaf and apply the gel to the burned area evenly. Do this two to three times a day.

Honey is another ingredient that is available at home. Take 2 teaspoons of organic honey and slather it onto the burn. Do this at least thrice daily to see positive results.
