Sattu: One of the most indigenous protein sources of India, sattu is no stranger to the locals of Bihar, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, UP, and West Bengal. Usually served as a sharbat at the peak of summer, sattu is made of roasted Bengal gram and has a near-instant cooling effect on the body. Some people even use a mix of chickpea and Bengal gram to make sattu as well. Besides cooling your body instantly, sattu is high on insoluble fibre, which makes it good for your intestines. Since it is low on glycemic index, it is good for diabetes.

It is high on iron, manganese, and magnesium and is low on sodium too.
