Eye infections, especially stye, are common during these months. My mother always had a home remedy whenever we would get one, says ROSHANI DEVI
Those were dreadful days when a stye used to pop up to painful consequences. The treatment that I used to get was awfully painful but always worked. If you can take the pain in the hope of a quick dissolution of the stye, here’s what you can do:
-
Peel and wash a garlic pod and apply its juice like a kajal on your infected eye. It will pain for a few seconds but usually takes only a day for the stye to subside. Please do this three time a day.
-
Alternatively, apply a warm compress to the affected eyelid. Heat increases circulation and speeds up the drainage of pus from the sty. It also reduces pain and swelling.
-
Tea is a magic potion and the anti-inflammatory properties in green tea are a great help in reducing pain and diminish the sty. Dip a green tea bag in lukewarm water for a few minutes.
-
Squeeze out the excess water and put it oer your eyelid, gently pressing it over the affected eyelid. Keep it on for at least five minutes. Do it multiple times and you will see the stye shrinking and the pain less.
-
Coriander seeds do the same due to their anti-inflammatory properties. Add a tsp of the seeds to a cup of water and boil it. Once the water cools, strain and wash the stye with it, three times a day
-
The antibacterial properties of turmeric can also help in reducing any infection-causing elements contributing to the condition. Boil a tsp of turmeric powder in a cup of water. Cool, strain it through a cheese cloth and use the solution to wash the affected area a few times a day.
