Fresh encounter breaks out in J&K

Ahead of the 79th Independence Day celebrations, the security forces have launched a massive crackdown against the hiding groups of terrorists in the upper reaches of different district headquarters of Jammu and Kashmir.

During one such combing and search operation going on in the general area of Dul in the Kishtwar district, a fresh encounter broke out between a joint team of security forces and the heavily armed terrorists early Sunday morning.

According to ground reports, at least two heavily armed foreign terrorists are believed to have been trapped inside a cave-like structure in the remote area of Dul. At the time of filing the report, heavy exchange of fire was going on inside the densely forested area to neutralise them. Unconfirmed reports claimed one of the terrorists received injuries during a fierce exchange of fire.

Additional troops were rushed to the spot to plug the gaps and prevent the escape of terrorists. The security forces exercised utmost caution while tightening the cordon to avoid any collateral damage.

Nagrota-based White Knight Corps in a post on X confirmed, “Alert Indian Army troops while carrying out an intelligence-based operation have established contact with terrorists in the general area of Dul in Kishtwar in the early hours of 10 August 2025. Gunfire exchanged. Operation under progress”.

Meanwhile, the ongoing encounter inside the Akhal forest area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district entered its 10th day on Sunday. Two army personnel were ‘killed in action’ while two others received injuries during a fierce gunfight late Friday night. The soldiers succumbed to their injuries on Saturday. They both hailed from Punjab.

The Indian army is engaged in a fierce gunfight with a group of heavily armed foreign terrorists, well-versed in guerrilla warfare. Preliminary assessment made by the security forces revealed that at least five to seven terrorists were present in the Akhal forest area when the anti-terror operations were launched on August 1.

So far, only one terrorist has been neutralised, while nine soldiers received injuries in the exchange of fire. Reportedly, the terrorists are equipped with sophisticated rifles fitted with thermal scopes and lobbing grenades targeting security forces to inflict maximum casualties.
