Veteran Congress leader VC Shukla would be cremated at the place he had chosen for himself on the sprawling premises of his farmhouse popularly known as Radheshyam Bhavan at 4 pm on Wednesday.
Vidya Bhaiya, as he was affectionately called, had constructed a rectangular platform one and half years back in front portion of his farm house located at labhandi from where his residence is clearly visible. He had conveyed his wish, to be cremated out there, to some of his close aides.
On Tuesday, as soon as the news of his demise was out, labourers were deployed to repair the platform and clear the sub way from his residence to the pyre place so that his funeral procession reached the destination comfortably. Party leaders and family members too visited the place to take stock of the preparations.
According to sources, his body would reach Raipur late on Tuesday and will be kept at his Budhapara located residence. On Wednesday morning his body will be taken to Congress Bhavan. In the afternoon his body will be taken to his farm house, Radheshyam Bhavan, and will be kept there for some time before cremation.
