Tablighi chief Saad booked for culpable homicide after attendees die

Staff Reporter

The Delhi Police on Wednesday booked Tablighi Jamaat chief Maulana Saad Kandhalvi and others under culpable homicide — not amounting to murder for holding religious gathering at Nizamuddin Markaz last month flouting social distancing norms — after attendees died of COVID-19.

Sources said the Delhi Police Crime Branch will decide whether to arrest Saad after recording his statement. Earlier, in an audio message, Saad had said he was in self-quarantine after several hundreds who visited the Tablighi Jamaat congregation at Nizamudddin Markaz tested positive for coronavirus.
