In a gruesome incident, two minor students of Kartar Memorial Senior Secondary School in Bass village of Hisar district allegedly stabbed the Director-cum-Principal Jagbir Singh Pannu to death on the premises on Thursday after he asked them to get a haircut and follow school discipline.

The 50-year-old Pannu was rushed to a private hospital in Hisar, where he succumbed to his injuries. The crime took place on the day of Guru Purnima, the day when the relationship between the guru and the disciple is respected, but this incident has tarnished this relationship. Talking to The Pioneer over the Phone, Narnaund Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ravinder Sangwan said that the incident took place around 11 am at the School campus.

The school staff rushed the Principal to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. On receiving information, the police team arrived at the spot and started an investigation. Police have begun scanning CCTV footage from the school premises and recording eyewitness statements. Based on the complaint, an FIR has been registered and police team members are working on several angles. Both students are minors. The exact circumstances of the murder will be known only after the postmortem report and a detailed investigation, he added

Sources in the Police Department said that taken by surprise, the victim Principal failed to protect himself, and was stabbed multiple times. The students involved have been identified. The students were reportedly angry over being frequently reprimanded for not maintaining proper grooming standards, specifically their haircuts, and for failing to adhere to school rules.

The Principal had reportedly warned the teenagers multiple times and urged them to mend their ways. Following the attack, the two accused students fled the scene. Pannu was rushed to a nearby private hospital by the school staff and was later shifted to another hospital in Hisar, where he succumbed to his injuries. A foldable knife, believed to be the murder weapon, has been recovered. The motive behind the attack remains unclear as police continue to question the school staff and other students, they added.
