The national Capital’s air quality index (AQI) dropped to the ‘very poor’ category on Sunday, with the city recording 368 as average AQI at 4 pm even as the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) stage 3 remains revoked by the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM).
The city recorded an AQI of 362 at 6 pm in the very poor category, taking a dip from Saturday when it was at 263 in the ‘poor’ category at 7 pm.
The city woke up to a foggy morning, with the minimum temperature recorded at 9.1 degrees Celsius, 1.6 notches above the season’s average. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the maximum temperature settled 6.5 notches above normal at 26.1 degrees Celsius.
People will wake up to a less chill morning on Monday as the met department has predicted moderate fog on Monday, with the maximum and the minimum temperatures likely to settle around 24 and 11 degrees Celsius, respectively. The humidity level oscillated between 71 per cent and 100 per cent.
Earlier on Friday, the CAQM had revoked the actions under Stage III (‘Severe’ Air Quality) of the GRAP following an improvement in the national Capital’s AQI after it reached 302 a day before.
