The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday said it has recovered various incriminating documents and digital records besides cash to the tune of Rs 2.85 crore and 133 gold coins weighing 1.80 kg from unexplained source of income from the premises of arrested Delhi Minister Satyendar Jain and his accomplices.
The AAP has denied the ED claim and said no such seizure was made.
The AAP claimed that ED has recovered only some documents, one digital device, and Rs 2.79 lakh from Satyendar’s house during their searches.
While the AAP strongly refuted ED’s claim of seizure of Rs 2.8 crore, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal alleged Prime Minister Narendra Modi is after his Aam Aadmi Party and its Governments in the national Capital and Punjab.
Taking to Twitter, Kejriwal dubbed the charges against Jain as a lie. “At this time, the Prime Minister is after the Aam Aadmi Party with all his power, especially the Governments of Delhi and Punjab. Lie after lie, lie after lie,” Kejriwal tweeted in Hindi.
“You (PM) have the power of all the agencies but God is with us,” he added.
On Monday, the ED had conducted a search operation under Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) on the premises of Satyendar Kumar Jain/Poonam Jain, and his accomplices and other persons who had either directly or indirectly assisted him or participated in the process of money laundering, the ED said in a statement.
Besides the premises of Satyendar/Poonam Jain, residences of other accused persons like Ankush Jain, Vaibhav Jain, Naveen Jain and Siddharth Jain and Yogesh Kumar Jain (Directors of Ram Prakash Jewellers Pvt Ltd), GS Matharoo (chairman of Lala Sher Singh Jivan Vigyan Trust which runs Prudence Group of Schools), were also searched.
Yogesh Kumar Jain is father-in-law of Ankush Jain and trustee of Lala Sher Singh Jivan Vigyan Trust, it said.
“Investigation revealed that one accomplice member of Lala Sher Singh Jivan Vigyan Trust had provided accommodation entries for transfer of land from company beneficially owned by Satyendar to family members of accomplices in order to alienate the property and to frustrate the process of confiscation,” it further said.
Addressing a Press conference, AAP MLA Saurabh Bhardwaj claimed that only Rs 2.79 lakh were found by ED, which could not be seized as every penny was accounted for.
“The seizure memo of the ED raid was given to his wife and daughter which mentioned that various documents, one digital device, and Rs 2,79,200 was recovered during the searches. The ED has conducted search operations at Satyendra’s house from 7 in the morning to 2 in the night but could not find anything incriminating against him. The enforcement directorate has given a clean chit to Jain through its seizure memo. It clearly states that Rs 2.79 lakh were found but not seized as they were accounted for,” he said.
AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh also lashed out at the BJP for spreading fake news all over social media to malign the AAP. He alleged that BJP has started a fake news campaign against Jain saying cash and gold was found during the raids.
The ED had initiated the money laundering investigation on the basis of an FIR registered by the CBI on August 24, 2017 under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act against Satyendar, wife Poonam Jain Ajit Prasad Jain, Sunil Kumar Jain, Vaibhav Jain, son of Ajit Prasad Jain and Ankush Jain, son Sunil Kumar Jain.
