Confirms Sudipta Sen met Mukul Roy before fleeing

Arvind Singh Chauhan, the driver of jailed Saradha chief Sudipta Sen, dropped a bombshell on Tuesday that could set the whole Trinamool Congress house on fire. He disclosed that Sen met Trinamool MP and party number two Mukul Roy and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s Nandigram point man Subhendu Adhikary before fleeing Kolkata in April last year. Adhikary is also TMC MP from East Midnapore.

Tallking to reporters after being released on bail, Chauhan said he drove Sen as far as Sonmarg in Kashmir during his flight from Kolkata after his chit fund company collapsed. He alleged that the real conspirators in the multi-crore scam were roaming free while the small fries, like him, were cooling their heels behind the bar.

“I was working in Delhi office when Mr Sen called me to Kolkata. He asked me to drive him to Nizam Palace where he met Mr Mukul Roy. The day was April 5 last year,” he said.

A couple of days later “perhaps” on April 7, Subhendu Adhikary came to his Midland Park office at Salt lake where a Saradha staff called Arabinda Das received him, Chauhan said.

After that Sen fled Kolkata on April 9 in a car with Bengal number. Curiously the car managed to evade the eyes of the toll plazas en route. He also said that during his meeting with Roy, jailed Trinamool leader and former Bengal DGP Rajat Majumdar was also present at Nizam Palace.

“I have revealed all these and many more things to the CBI because the real conspirators are roaming free while the small fries like us, who were a mere employees, are being jailed,” he said. Chauhan was once again summoned by the CBI on Tuesday.

The Trinamool Congress has repeatedly denied claims of having any truck with the ponzi fund kingpin.

Reacting to the allegations brought by the onetime aide of the Saradha chief, Adhikary said he “vehemently denies such allegations which are a part of the bigger conspiracy to malign me,” adding he would “sue Chauhan” for his comments.

“let him come forward with evidence to prove his statement or withdraw it or face a libel suit,” Adhikary said.

Majumdar had recently claimed inside a city court after his arrest that he would never take the names of Mukul Roy or Mamata Banerjee as desired by the CBI. “I will never take the names of Mukul Roy or Mamata Banerjee come what may,” he told the CBI inside the court room.

The other Trinamool leaders refused to comment on the issue.

Earlier the CBI had quizzed CPI(M) leader Rabin Deb and former Congress Union Minister Abu Hasem Khan Chowdhury.

Meanwhile, the CBI also grilled one of Sudipto Sen’s lawyers who had reportedly drafted the letter he reportedly wrote to the CBI before his flight from Kolkata last year.
