The Crime Branch of Delhi Police has arrested a 30-year-old Radio Jockey of All India Radio (AIR) on the charge of impersonation Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, BJP leader Shatrughan Sinha, and RJD president lalu Prasad to threaten a director of the T-Series to reinstate a sacked employee.
The accused AIR RJ, Vikash Dutt, used to threaten Super Cassette Industries limited (SCIl) director Ved Parkash Chanan over phone, identifying himself as the PM, lalu Prasad and Shatrughan Sinha, for the last one year. Vikash Dutt modulated his voices to match with the political leaders asked Ved Parkash to reinstate the sacked employee, Kishan Kumar (34).
Vikash Dutt and Kishan Kumar have been arrested. “Kumar was working with the SCIl for the last five years as a liaisoning consultant, while Vikash Dutt was working as a RJ with AIR and also ran his medical store in a private nursing home in Shalimar Bagh,” said police sources.
Kumar first met Dutt at a common friend's party in 2012. “Kumar was sacked from his job on February 21 this year for the first time, then finally in June. With the help of his friend Mohit, who is absconding, Kumar convinced Dutt, a mimicry artiste, to help him reinstate the job,” the sources said, adding that Kumar used to give Rs 5,000 to Dutt for every call he made to the SCIl director.
Complainant Chanan told the police that an unidentified caller used to call the SCIl director and used to identify himself as BJP MP Shatrughan Sinha, RJD leader lalu Prasad and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, seeking favours for an ex-employee of the company for the last one year.
The caller also threatened him of dire consequences. “During investigation, police came to know that Chanan received first call from Shatrughan Sinha after he removed one of his employees, Kumar, from job. After the call, he instated Kumar, but after weeks, he again received a call from lalu Prasad and this time the caller asked for Kumar's promotion,” the police sources said, adding that the caller also threatened to hurt his family if his demands were not met.
After all the threatening calls, he decided to meet the concerned politicians and he was in for a rude shock when they told him that none of them had ever called him. Few weeks ago, complainant's manager Bir Singh received a call wherein the caller had pretended to be PM Manmohan Singh and asked him to do favour to Kumar. It was here the complainant smelt a rat and decided to inform police and sent recordings of his conversation with the caller to Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi. Based on the victim's plaint, a case has been registered under Sections 419, 507 and 120-B of the IPC at Crime Branch police station.
