The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the CBI action against Manish Sisodia and accused him of using the probe agency to defame the party and its leaders due to the “growing popularity” of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his model of governance.
After the CBI raids against Sisodia over the Excise Policy, Kejriwal hailed his deputy as the “best Education Minister in the world” as his name was featured on the front page of the renowned American daily, The New York Times.
He said that the last time India’s name was featured in The New York Times was over mass deaths happening in the country due to Covid-19.
Kejriwal said the CBI raids on Manish Sisodia, “The best Education Minister of Independent India were on orders from above to harass us” and are “just obstacles in the AAP’s ‘Make India Number 1’ mission but we will not be deterred.”
During the video address, the Chief Minister said,”Today, I have come to share some good news with you. This is something that will make every Indian proud. I want to congratulate everyone. In The New York Times — America’s biggest newspaper — the report on Delhi’s education model was published. It spoke of the revolution in the Delhi Government schools. This report carries a photo of Manish Sisodia ... in a newspaper where all world leaders want coverage. This means Sisodia has been, in a way, recognised as the best Education Minister. In a way, he has been declared the best education minister in the world. The biggest newspaper wrote about Delhi’s education revolution and carried Sisodia’s photograph also.”
Earlier, taking to Twitter, Kejriwal attached the front page of The New York Times featuring Sisodia along with a news story with the headline, “Our Children are worth it; overhaul of public schools in Delhi has students clamoring to enroll.”
