Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said, “Enemies of humanity who can’t see India progress attacked Pathankot but our security forces did not let them succeed.” Praising the armed forces, Modi added, “We are proud of our jawans and security forces.”
Speaking at the birth centenary celebrations of Dr Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji of Suttur Mutt in Mysuru, Modi assured that the Defence forces had the strength to defeat “the evil designs of our enemy.” Congratulating the armed forces “who are always ready to protect the country”, he said if the country speaks out with unity, the “ill-will of our enemies will get destroyed.”
In New Delhi, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said all four terrorists have been killed in Pathankot operation.
Earlier in the day, NSA Ajit Doval briefed the Prime Minister about the operation and Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar apprised Modi about operational preparedness of the armed forces shortly before he left for Mysuru.
Parrikar also held a 90-minute long meeting with Doval and the three Service chiefs. Doval gave a presentation about the entire operation including intelligence flow to the minister. The Defence top brass also reviewed security measures around Defence establishments throughout the country.
