Terming the Ayodhya verdict as a golden chapter in the history of judiciary, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday urged all sections of society to accept the historic verdict with an open heart.

Addressing the nation, the Prime Minister repeatedly urged people to shut bitterness and negativity for the sake of a new India. Modi said the way each section of the society welcomed the verdict reflects India’s ancient traditions of amity and harmony.

Prime Minister said India’s credo of unity in diversity is today visible in its totality.  He also expressed happiness that the five-judge bench of the top court was unanimous in its order.  He said peace, unity and amity are essential for development of India and described November 9 as a day to forget any bitterness one may have.

Modi pointed out that Berlin Wall was broken on November 9 leading to unification of Germany and India and Pakistan opened the Kartarpur Corridor also on November 9. Prime Minister reiterated that there is no place for fear, bitterness and negativity in new India.  Soon after the Judgment, he appealed people to keep harmony and accept the verdict wholeheartedly.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah welcomed the Supreme Court judgment, saying the order will prove to be a milestone and further strengthen India’s unity and integrity. In a series of tweets, Shah appealed to all communities and religions to accept the decision of the apex court with ease and remain committed to ‘Ek Bharat-Shreshtha Bharat’ (one India, great India).

“I am confident that this landmark judgment given by the Supreme Court will prove to be a milestone in itself. This decision will further strengthen India’s unity, integrity and great culture,” he said.

For his part, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said the landmark judgment should be respected by all. “It is a historic and landmark judgment of the apex court which everyone should respect. I also feel that the judgment will strengthen the country’s social fabric,” he said and appealed to people to maintain peace and social amity, said Singh.
