A 25-year-old nurse, who was returning home from hospital, was dragged by two drunken men into roadside bushes on the NH-58 near Raj Nagar Extension in Ghaziabad and gangraped on Friday around 10 pm, police said on Saturday. The unidentified assailants also snatched her mobile phone and captured the sexual assault on the cellphone.
RS Khoda, the station house officer of the Sihani Gate police station, said the incident happened barely 200 metres from the victim’s residence when she was returning from her workplace.
“As the woman felt being followed by two men on the NH, she tried to call up her family. However, the calls could not connect. The two men then dragged her into the bushes along the road,” said the police officer.
The victim told police that initially she thought that the two men were robbers and were trying to snatch her mobile.
“She handed over the mobile but one of them pulled her hair while the other slapped and punched her multiple times before forcing themselves on the victim,” said another police officer.
The woman said the men called each other with their names, said the cop. Police sources said that the two men were aged around 22-23 years and unknown to the woman.
