Noida-based fashion designer Shipra Malik had staged her own kidnapping as she was facing a financial crisis, police said. Shipra, (29) had mysteriously disappeared a few days ago sending police in a tizzy. However, she was traced to a house in Sultanpur Village on Jhajjar road near Gurgaon by Noida police after she called up her husband to inform him that she was in Gurgaon. She was, however, alone when police located her.
In her preliminary statement to Noida police, Shipra claimed that she was kidnapped by three people from Noida and taken to Gurgaon. Shipra, however, broke down during questioning and confessed that she had gone on her own and hatched a plot to make it look like a kidnapping after watching a popular TV crime show.
“She was not abducted and had staged the whole drama herself,” DIG (Meerut Range) lakshmi Singh said.
