In a shocking incident, wife of a serving Army Major was found dead in Naraina area close to Delhi Cantonment metro station on Saturday with her throat slit and body run over by a vehicle.

According to the police, body of the 30-year-old woman, identified as Shailaza Dwivedi, was found lying in a pool of blood with her throat slit. Police said her body had marks that appear to have been caused by being run over by a vehicle.

DCP (West) Vijay Kumar said police received a call of a road accident but after initial enquiry, injuries were spotted on her neck. He said that she was immediately taken to nearby hospital where doctors declared her dead.

The police suspect she could have been murdered first and then run over by the killer, as she was last seen taking a lift in another car from outside the hospital after she was dropped by the driver, the police said

“The accused has been identified and police teams are conducting raids to nab them,” the DCP said. However, police ruled out robbery and sexual assault as motive. “There are no signs of struggle.

No articles are missing from the woman’s body, including ornaments,” police said.

A forensic examination team visited the crime scene to collect chance prints and other forensic evidence, said police, adding that they have identified a suspect and are very close to making an arrest.

According to initial reports, she had left home at 10 am for a physiotherapy session at the base hospital in Delhi Cantonment. An official vehicle, which has been assigned to her husband, dropped her outside the hospital. However, when the vehicle went to pick her up, the driver was told that major’s wife didn’t come for physiotherapy on Saturday.
