Following a spat with his wife, a 30-year-old man allegedly threw his two-year-old son from the first-floor terrace of a building in South-East Delhi’s Kalkaji area under the influence of alcohol and then jumped off it on Friday night. The man was identified as Man Singh.

According to police, both father and son have been admitted to AIIMS with serious injuries.  This incident was reported a day after a teacher in the MCD-run primary school hit a class 5 student with paper-cutting scissors and threw her off the first floor.

The man’s wife, Pooja, has alleged they shared a strained relationship and she was living with her grandmother along with her son in Kalkaji, police officials said.

Man Singh and his wife Puja had been living separately for the past few months. He came to meet them last night when the couple got into a heated argument.

Following the fight, the man took the child to the first-floor terrace and flung him to the ground from a height of around 21 feet. He himself jumped off the terrace after that.

A case under section 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered and a probe launched, the police said.
