More than 32 hours after her admission to the State-run JJ Hospital for suspected drug overdose, Indrani Mukherjea — key accused in the murder of her daughter Sheena Bora —continued to remain in a stupor with absolutely no let up in her respiratory depression, a condition that prompted the

doctors attending on her to refrain from saying that she was out of danger.

Talking to The Pioneer on Saturday evening, Dean of JJ Hospital Dr TP lahane said, “She has not regained her consciousness since her admission. She continues to be in a deep sleep or stuporous state. Her blood pressure, pulse rate and other parameters are stable. But, she continues to be in respiratory depression. She

is not on ventilator but is being provided oxygen through nasal cannula”.

Dr lahane added, “She will be under observation for the next 48 hours. It is only after that we will be able to say something about her condition in specific terms. We expect to receive her medical reports by tomorrow evening.”

During his interaction with the media on Saturday evening, Dr lahane said that there was no trace of drug found in the gastric test and blood test reports are awaited.

“The urine report by Hinduja Hospital laboratory in Mahim is positive for benzodiazepines (a class of antidepressants) with a level of 2088 (normal report 200),” said Dr TP lahane.

“We did not find the drug in the gastric test.

If the drug must have dissolved in the body we will come to know when we get the blood sample report by tomorrow evening,” he said.

In a message sent to the media, Dr lahane said, “Indrani is now responding to deep stimuli. Some times with oral commands. Her respiratory depression is continuing. It is 12 per min. Her blood pressure is 110/70 MM. of Hg”.

“Her pulse rate is from 73-80. Her Pco2 is normal now. She is maintained on two liter oxygen per hr. Her Condition is still critical but stable. Senior consultants are monitoring her and her cholinesterase is normal. That means there is no opium poisoning,” JJ Hospital dean added.

Meanwhile, Indrani’s lawyer Gunjan Mangala on Saturday moved a local court seeking permission to meet her in JJ Hospital after she wasn’t allowed to see her.

Acting on Mangala’s plea, Magistrate RV Adone sought a report from the State-run medical facility in Byculla on health condition of Indrani and adjourned the hearing till next week. During the hearing, the CBI told the court they have just taken over the case from the Mumbai. The central agency said their investigation was at an initial stage and the gravity of the offence is very serious

Earlier in the day, Mangala was not allowed to meet Indrani when the former went to see her client in the JJ Hospital.
